Fire Protection Inspection Services have a certification service for the Fire Protection Industry to ensure that Fire Alarm Systems are installed to the recognised standard.

Certification is now required by the NZ Standard for Fire Alarm Systems (NZS 4512) by a
n ISO 17020 accreditation body.

The Fire Service will generally require such certification prior to connection and Territorial Authorities will ask for certification where the system is required to be installed as part of a Building Consent.

The Fire Protection Association (NZ) has established a system of approving Fire Alarm Contractors. As part of this procedure final inspections and certification of installation systems by an accredited Inspection Body is necessary.
